Any student may be given consideration for the scholar programs, regardless of citizenship.
Nominations from high school guidance counselors are not required in order to be considered.
Students must be submitting an application for one of Emory University's three admission periods.

RECRUITING PROCESS
The Office of Admission, in collaboration with outstanding professors, manages the selection for merit-based scholar programs.
Each year, anywhere between 8,000 and 10,000 students apply to be Scholars. 175-200 students are chosen as Scholar Finalists from among those. Finalists must attend a Scholars Finalists Visit hosted on campus in the spring. Finalists are invited to campus without charging the student.
The visit, which spans several days, includes activities and interviews made to familiarize finalists with Emory University and the unique opportunities accessible to them there.
Those who are not chosen as program finalists are nevertheless thoroughly examined for admission in accordance with the application strategy they have chosen, and they are also automatically considered for additional minor merit-based awards.
Financial aid selection is carried out independently of Scholar selection. Merit scholarships are given out first when a student qualifies for both financial aid and scholarships. If there is unmet need after the merit scholarship award, students who applied for financial help may also qualify for need-based grants and loans.
Timeline
Application date for the Emory University Scholar Programs is November 15. (Applications for Early Decision I must be submitted by November 1).
Applications are examined by the faculty and admissions committees from October through January.
Scholar Finalists are selected and notified by the end of February.
Finalists visit campus in EARLY APRIL. membership in scholar programs announced.
Deadline for enrollment deposits is MAY 1.
How to Use
You must choose one of the three admission decision plans (Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision) and submit all necessary application papers by November 15 in order to be considered for any and all scholar programs. Early Decision I applicants must submit their applications by November 1.
Additionally, you have to select "yes" when asked if you want to be taken into consideration for merit scholarships on your application.
