Before being diagnosed with a chronic illness and forced to postpone her studies, Kellie was working toward a degree in the creative industries. Kellie died soon after that. 
Kellie enjoyed writing because it allowed her to share Australia's Queensland University of Technology 2023 Creative Writing Scholarship in Honor of Kellie van Meurs her experiences, feelings, and frequently hilarious viewpoints with others.
To honor Kellie's life, her family and friends have kindly pledged to support this scholarship.
This award is intended to help and support a student who, like Kellie, wants to pursue a degree in this field of creative endeavor.
