Competition has begun.
For exchanges taking place during the school year 2023-2024, applications are now being accepted.

By the deadline of March 21, 2023, Canadian institutions must submit applications online on behalf of candidates. 


research in Canada Scholarships are intended to broaden the variety of nations and territories from which Canadian post-secondary institutions can accept short-term exchange students for study or research. Institutions will be given the chance to showcase their academic and research excellence in new markets as well as to expand and broaden existing international connections.


The program's new links will expand and enhance Canada's educational engagement with a wide range of partners, boost bilateral ties, and support the Canadian government's larger aim to diversify its international trade.  


Under Global Affairs Canada's International Scholarships Program, the Study in Canada Scholarships are a Short-term Exchange Program.


Eligibility

In order to qualify, you must:


a national of a nation or territory that is qualified

Asia: Taiwan, Bangladesh, and Nepal

Europe: Ukraine and Turkey

North Africa and the Middle East: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia

Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda are all countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

a student paying tuition fees to that school at the time of application and for the entire exchange period; a student studying full-time at a post-secondary institution in an eligible country or territory.

If any of the following apply to you: 


You currently participate in a scholarship program financed by the Government of Canada, you have a pending application for citizenship or permanent residency, and you are enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program at a Canadian post-secondary school.

In order to host students, Canadian postsecondary institutions must:


have a current student exchange agreement with the student's home institution that waives tuition costs for scholarship recipients (needed for college/undergraduate studies only); be a Designated Learning Institution (DLI).

Graduate (5-6 months) (5-6 months)

$12,700

six to five months

studying or conducting graduate-level research (Masters and PhD). There is no need for a student exchange agreement.

Selected students may spend their scholarship money on:


Fees for obtaining a visa or a job or study permit Airfare via the shortest, most practical route

Health coverage

books and supplies needed for their study or research, excluding computers and other equipment; ground transportation, including a public transportation pass; and living expenses, such as housing, utilities, and food. Canadian institutions are eligible to receive:


In some cases, reimbursement of additional employer compliance fees paid to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. $500 per scholarship recipient to help with administrative costs after the student arrives in Canada.

How to get financing

Financial support from Global will go to Canadian institutions
